Saskatchewan has invested heavily in herb, spice and natural health product research over the last twenty years. Below are a sample of recent research initiatives.

-We worked extensively with the University of Saskatchewan in the research and development of Saskatchewan-happy seeds and identified several markets for Saskatchewan's viable Medicinal Herbs and Spice market; including Milk Thistle. Cumin, Dill and Coriander

HERB AND SPICE & SPECIALTY AG RESEARCH IN SASKATCHEWAN

— Screening coriander, dill, fennel and cumin for reaction to flower blight
— Field evaluation of doubled haploids of dill, fennel and other Umbelifereae
— Study of genetic variability in cumin
— Study of genetic variability in milk thistle
— Study of milk thistle agronomy under dryland conditions
— Establishment of disease nursery for Umbelifereae flower blight.
— Effect of maturity on levels of 2-decanol and 2-dodecanol in essential oil of coriander.
